Philip
Chagnon is a self-taught watercolorist in the Traditionalist style. His
seascapes and lighthouses are a natural reflection of his native Connecticut
heritage.
Chagnon exhibits mainly in Connecticut and has participated in numerous arts and crafts shows since 1985. Winning over 60 awards and prizes. The Grumbacher Gold Medal Award, First place - Arts Connecticut 1999. Also second prize in The Mystic Outdoor Art Show. The Prestigious Connecticut Watercolor Society Award, The Nancy Green Memorial Award 2005. He also enjoys experimenting with media of his own design, producing work that is a refreshing contributuon to the genre. A commission painter and a skilled framer as well, he is often called upon to render the likenesses of Connecticut Seascapes. |
Several
of Chagnon's pieces reside in corporate offices throughout the New England
area.
Phil is a member of the North Haven Art Guild, Hamden Art League and Guilford Art League. Chagnon also advertises in Sea History Magazine, a quarterly Journal of the national Maritime Historical Society. Phil does many shows per year. See Phil's work in person. |
